CHECKING ACCOUNTS
Welcome to totally free checking! On December 2, your Portland Local 8 FCU Checking Account will convert to an ILWU Credit Union Free Checking Account! You will enjoy no monthly fees, no minimum balance requirements, free and unlimited check writing, free online, mobile and telephone banking services, and more! Please review the following information so you are prepared for the upcoming changes to your checking account.
Checks
If you are actively writing checks on your Portland Local 8 FCU account, you will receive a new, free packet of checks because the routing number which allows checks to clear through the correct financial institution will change after Portland Local 8 FCU becomes part of ILWU Credit Union.
- Your new checks should arrive before November 26, 2025.
- You can begin using your new checks on December 2, 2025.
- We will continue to honor and clear any outstanding Portland Local 8 FCU checks that you have written, prior to the merger, through March 2026.
- If you do not receive your new checks by November 26, please contact us immediately at 866.445.9828.
Visa Debit Card
All active Debit Cardholders will receive a new Visa Debit Card and instructions which should arrive before December 2. You will continue to use your current Portland Local 8 FCU Debit Card through December 2. Click the Debit Card tab above for more details.
Direct Deposit and Automatic Payments
All former Portland Local 8 FCU direct deposits and automatic payments will be directed to your new account at ILWU Credit Union for a short time after December 2.
To ensure there are no interruptions to any of your ACH or automatic transactions, please update your information with any vendor(s) or company debiting or depositing transaction(s) to or from your Portland Local 8 FCU account. You must inform these vendors of ILWU Credit Union's routing number immediately after the merger on December 2, to avoid a disruption of service.
- After December 2, please use your full ACH/MICR 14-digit account number and the ILWU Credit Union routing number when setting up any new direct deposit or automatic payment information.
- You can locate your full ACH/MICR 14-digit account information on your new ILWU Credit Union checks or in the account details section when you log in to ILWU Credit Union’s Online or Mobile Banking on or after December 2, 2025.

Account Statements
- Your November 2025 account statement will be the last from Portland Local 8 FCU.
- You will receive ILWU Credit Union statements starting with your December 2025 statement. To view a sample statement, click here.
- To sign-up for free and convenient eStatements, you can enroll through Online or Mobile Banking after December 2.
- Enrolling in eStatements will allow you to easily access the previous 6 months of your Portland Local 8 FCU statements.
Changes to Online/Mobile Banking Services
Effective December 2, you will be able to register and access ILWU Credit Union's FREE 24/7 Online and Mobile Banking. In addition, you will be able to re-enroll in Free Bill Pay, Zelle® and eStatements.
- Effective Friday, November 28, 2025 at 3:30 PM, Pacific Time, Portland Local 8 FCU's Online and Mobile Banking will no longer be available.
- Once the merger is completed on December 2, you can log into ILWU Credit Union's Online or Mobile Banking.
- Simply login using your current Username. You will have to reset your password.
- Once you have logged in or registered in Online or Mobile Banking, you can re-enroll in Free Bill Pay, Zelle®, and eStatements.
