Savings Jar FAQ


What is Savings Jar?

Savings Jar, a savings round-up program. Every time you use your ILWU Credit Union debit card, your purchase will be rounded up to the nearest dollar and automatically deposited into the account you select.

How do enroll in Savings Jar?

From the Main Menu in Online and Mobile Banking choose More Services and then select Savings Jar. Once Savings Jar is selected, simply follow the prompts (toggle) to opt in.

How do I choose where my round-up amount is deposited?

When you enroll in Savings Jar, there will be an option to select a Destination Account. Most members select their Savings account. You can also choose to donate your round-up amount to a local charity.

How often will my round-up be deposited to my destination account?

Your round-up funds will be transferred to your selected account at the end of each day. Choose between a Savings account or an ILWU Charity.

Which charities are available?

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Harry Bridges Institute, Memorial Care Miller Children’s Hospital, or That’s Right Safety First.

Are there any penalties to opt-out?

No. There are no penalties. You can opt-in and opt-out any time you choose.

What if I have insufficient funds in my account?

If on any given day your Checking account does not have sufficient available funds to round-up, or if any transaction has overdrawn your Checking account, ILWU Credit Union will not round-up purchases posted on that day. Transfers will resume the following day, or on the next day that sufficient funds are available.

Are there any fees to participate?

There are no fees. This a free service offered by ILWU Credit Union.

Are ATM transactions included?

ATM transactions are not included in the round-up program.

If I need to replace my debit card, do I need to change anything in Savings Jar?

If you have to replace your debit card for any reason, you’ll stay enrolled in Savings Jar.
