New Look, More Security
New, renewed or re-issued VISA debit cards and VISA credit cards are now designed with a new look and enhanced security. These new cards, accepted in the U.S. and around the world, contain an embedded computer chip that adds a new layer of protection against fraud for purchases made at the point of sale or when used at an ATM.
Added Security
Cards with chip technology provide stronger security when used at chip-enabled terminals. Each transaction at a chip-enabled terminal generates a unique code, adding an extra safeguard against unauthorized use or counterfeiting.
Global Acceptance
Chip technology is already used in the United States and over 130 countries around the world. Our cardholders will enjoy greater acceptance when traveling internationally. The chip card will still work at terminals where only magnetic stripe transactions are accepted. You can pay with confidence wherever Visa cards are accepted.
Easy to Use
If a chip-activated terminal is available, simply insert your card and follow the prompts. If not, just swipe your card.
What you need to know if you've received a chip card to replace your current ILWU Credit Union Visa debit card or your VISA credit card:
- Activate and sign your new card immediately. Be sure to destroy your old card to prevent fraudulent use.
- Your new chip card will have a new card number, expiration date, and new PIN (Personal Identification Number).
- The PIN will be mailed to you separately. Once you receive the PIN, you can change the PIN by calling the number on the PIN mailer from your primary phone number listed on your account.
- If you have automatic payments set up with your current debit or credit card, please make sure to contact the merchant and update your new card information.
